Biography

Vilmos Csikos obtained his Master degree in the class of Yossif Ivanov at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel with great distinction in 2019.

He obtained his Pedagogical Master degree at the Royal Conservatory of Mons (Arts²) in 2021.

In March 2004, he won his first competition at the Didier Nowe Contest in Brussels. 

One year later, he was awarded 1st Prize and gold medal at the European Competition for Young Soloists (UGDA) in Luxembourg and in May 2006 he received 3rd Prize at the Kocian Violin Competition in Czech Republic. 

In 2007, he even won three 1st Prizes at the 'FLAME' international competition in Paris (France), the 'Andrea Postacchini' international violin competition in Fermo (Italy) and the 'Remember Enescu' international violin competition in Sinaia (Romania). 

The following year, he became first Prize winner at the Arthur Grumiaux Competition for Young Violinists (formerly “Bravo!” competition) in Brussels and second Prize winner at the Kocian Violin Competition in Czech Republic. 

In the following two years, he was awarded four more 1st Prizes at the 'FLAME' in Paris (May 2009), the 'Rotary Breughel' in Brussels (April 2010), the 'Cavatine' in Namur (Belgium, May 2010) and the European Competition for Young Soloists in Luxembourg (November 2010). 

In November 2011, he received 1st Prize at the Dexia Classics Soloist Competition in Brussels. 

In November 2012, he received 1st Prize at the Belfius Classics Chamber Music Competition in Brussels.

He won 2nd Prize at the Henri Koch Violin Competition in Liège (Belgium, October 2013) and 3rd Prize at the Louis Spohr Violin Competition in Weimar (November 2013).

In October 2015, he won 1st prize at the "Young Belgian Talent" Competition. 

In November 2015, he won the 2nd prize at the Edouard Deru violin competition in Verviers (Belgium).

In May 2017, he won 1st prize at the Leonid Kogan International Competition for Young Violinists (Belgium, Brussels). 

In July 2019, he won 1st prize at the Aragats international music festival competition in Yerevan (Armenia).

In November 2019, he received the Horlait-Dapsens Prize (Brussels, Belgium).

In February 2020, he won 1st prize at the Henry Vieuxtemps international violin competition in Verviers (Belgium).

In July 2021, he won the 1st prize at the Primuz International Strings Competition in Poland.

In August 2021, he won the 1st prize at the King's Peak International Music Competition in the USA.

In August 2021, he won the 1st prize at the Medici International Music Competition in Italy.

In September 2021, he won the 1st prize at the MAP International Music Competition in California (Los Angeles).

In December 2021, he won the 2nd prize and the special prize for the best performance of a work by a Belgian composer at the Triomphe de l’Art International Music Competition in Brussels (Belgium).

From 2019 - 2021, He is invited every year as a jury member at the Leonid Kogan international violin competition for Young violinists in Brussels (Belgium).

From 2018 - 2025, He is invited as a jury member at the Young Belgian Talent competition in Brussels (Belgium). 

In May 2023, he won the 2nd prize at the Arnold Rosé International Violin Competition in Vienna (Austria).

In May 2023, he received the Maurice Lefranc Prize (Brussels, Belgium).

In October 2023, he won 1st Prize and Special Jury Prize at the Basel International Online Violin Competition (Basel, Switzerland).

In 2023, a violin by Giovanni Battista Rogeri (Cremona) and an other one by Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume (Paris) were loaned to him by Florian Leonhard Fine Violins (London) for his CD recording with Naxos record label.

In July 2024, he won the Grand Prix at the Dragon International Online Music Competition.

In February 2025, he won 1st Prize at the 9th SWISS International Music Competition.

In March 2025, he won the Grand Prix at the 8th edition of the String Competition Online (SCO).

In March 2025, he collaborated as the violin soloist for the World Premiere of the Fantaisie for Violin, Voice and Orchestra by Henry Vieuxtemps.

In May 2025, he collaborated as the violin soloist for the Belgian Premiere of the 8th violin concerto by Henry Vieuxtemps.

In June 2025, he won the Audience Prize at the Sendai International Music Competition 2025 (Sendai, Japan).

In July 2025, he had a concert tour in China where he played the complete works for violin and piano by Maurice Ravel for his 150th anniversary.

In August 2025, he won 2nd Prize at the Royal Maas International Music Competition.

In August 2025, he won the “Prix d'Honneur” at the France International Music Competition.

In October 2025, he won 3rd Prize at the 4th Vienna International Classic Strings Competition (Vienna, Austria).

From November 2025, a violin by Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume (Paris) is loaned to him by Tarisio Fine Instruments & Bows (New York).

In January 2026, he won the Platinum Prize at the Beethoven Award International Music Competition (Gdańsk, Poland).

In February 2026, He won the 1st prize at the COLIBRI International Online Music Competition.

In addition to his participations in competitions Vilmos also has taken part in chamber music and violin master classes with Michel Béroff, Hansjörg Schellenberger, Alexander Rudin, Nobuko Imai, Jean Claude Van Den Eynde, Eric Robberecht, Eyal Shiloach, Dimitri Ivanov, Igor Tkatchouk, Joshua Epstein, Alex Russell, Liana Gourdjia, Marc Danel, Geza Hosszu-Legocky, Ino Mirkovic, Péter Csaba, Katalin Sebestyén, Antal Zalai, Latica Honda-Rosenberg, Shirly Laub, Augustin Dumay, Mihaela Martin, Sergey Khachatryan, Karen Aroutiounian, Pierre Amoyal, Yuzuko Horigome, Zakhar Bron and has given concerts in Hungary, Germany, Austria, Spain, France, Holland, Italy, Romania, Armenia, Czech Republic, Luxembourg, Kiev, Belgium, Japan and China. 

He was invited to play in various festivals such as : Encounter of Music and Academy of Santander (Spain, July 2016), B-Classic (Belgium, April 2019), Aragats (Armenia, July 2019), Musicorum (Belgium, August 2019), Midis-Minimes (Belgium, August 2019), Music Chapel "Homage to Eugène Ysaye" (Belgium, December 2019) Fréquence Musicale - Concerts de Midi (January 2022), Printemps musical de Silly (May 2022), Quatuor en liberté (France, April 2022) Hageland Klassiek (Belgium, October 2022), Fest of Fifty by Roby Lakatos (Hungary, May 2023), Les Concerts de Midi de la Ville de Liège (Belgium, February 2026), 

He played as a soloist with the Ensemble Orchestral 'Young Soloists' from Belgium, the Aria chamber orchestra, the Youth Academy Symphony Orchestra "Slobozhanskiy", the orchestra of The LISZT School of Music Weimar, The Brussels Sinfonietta, The Euregio Jeugdorkest (EJO), « L’Ensemble Orchestral Européen », the Orfeo Orchestra, the Budafok Dohnányi Orchestra, the ULB Orchestra, the Leuvens Alumni Orchestra, the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra and the Ataneres Flanders String Orchestra in collaboration with conductors Ulysse Waterlot, Etienne Rappe, Dmitry Filatov, Nicolas Pasquet, Luc Bartholomeus, Hans Casteleyn, Frédéric Chaine, Rik Ghesquière, Gábor Werner, Romain Felis and Junichi Hirokami.
